  1. 1.Toast the nuts. Allow to cool, then coarsely chop.
  2. 2.In a saucepan, combine the syrup, sugar, water, salt, and spices. Bring to a boil, then lower to a simmer for 2 minutes.
  3. 3.Add the nuts, bring back to a boil, then lower to a simmer for 2-3 minutes, or until desired consistency is reached.
  4. 4.Chill over an ice bath and stir in the bourbon, juice, and extract.
